(US, 2015) Written and directed by Paul Weitz. Cast: Lily Tomlin, Julia Garner, Marcia Gay Harden, Judy Greer, Laverne Cox, Sam Elliott.

Lily Tomlin, the great comedic actress of the screen (Nine-to-Five, Flirting With Disaster), TV (Laugh-In) and stage (The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe) shines in her first starring role in 27 years! Tomlin plays a lesbian poet in a funk since the death of her longtime partner, and her decision to abruptly end a new relationship (Judy Greer). She jolts awake when her 18-year-old niece (Julia Garner) arrives, in need of an abortion. In a funny and touching road movie not safe for the Religious Right, Tomlin and her niece tool around in a 1955 Dodge Royal, trying to raise cash from Tomlin’s last male lover, the baby’s father, and many others. Don’t miss Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black) as a transgender tattoo artist named Deathy. 80 min.

“In a script clearly written for Tomlin, Weitz has given her the best role of her career – and she runs with it!” David Lewis , San Francisco Chronicle,
