Cinestudio presents a movie positive to delight cinephiles, fans and film students! In 1963, when 30 year-old French critic and director François Truffaut scored an 8 day interview with his hero Alfred Hitchcock, he was one of the few who considered ‘the master of suspense’ an artist as well as an entertainer. Finding a kindred spirit, Hitchcock opened up about what makes great cinema, the themes of his many masterpieces, and technical innovations he used to such great effect. Now, the interview (and book) is a movie, mixing film clips with interviews, as Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, Oliver Assayas and others explore Hitchcock’s work, and how it continues to inspire.

“takes us into Hitchcock’s dream-like use of images and situations which look like reality but are not – and the way his subversion and surrealism were smuggled into the realist tradition of commercial cinema. A fascinating film.” Peter Bradshaw, the Guardian.
