(US, 2015) Directed by Bill Pohlad. Screenplay by Oren Moverman and Michael Alan Lerner.
Cast: John Cusack, Paul Dano, Elizabeth Banks, Paul Giamatti.

The story behind the glorious music of Brian Wilson is a conglomeration of the ultimate rock and roll nightmare: a gifted child abused by his father (Michael Jackson); exploited by a manager/guru (Elvis Presley), damaged by drugs (Janis Joplin), and fame (Kurt Cobain). Love & Mercy also takes us inside the studio as Wilson records the epic Pet Sounds, layering tracks and instruments, and adding his eerie voice into the mix. The movie shines with three super performances: Paul Dano as young Wilson at the height of his creativity, John Cusack as the vulnerable artist of the 1980s, and Paul Giamatti as con man/psychologist Dr. Landry. 120 min.

“It has the two things a Brian Wilson story needs above all: a sense of mystery and the right vibrations – good, bad, & weird.” – David Edelstein, NY Magazine.
