(US, 2017). Director: Tom E. Brown. Cast: James Roday, Danny Glover, Khandi Alexander,
Robin Tiegert.

OUT Film CT’s Second Thursdays series is thrilled to present Pushing Dead, which will screen for one night at Cinestudio after making its premiere at the 40th Anniversary of Frameline, the San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival! A dark ensemble comedy, Pushing Dead is a sly commentary on what passes for healthcare in America – and the sense of community that keeps people hopeful, if not optimistic. James Roday (of TV’s Fringe) plays an HIV positive bouncer in San Francisco, who suddenly loses his healthcare. Trying to help – while dealing with problems of their own – are his heartbroken boss (Danny Glover), and his scaredy-cat roommate, played by Robin Weigert, best known as Deadwood’s Calamity Jane. 110 min.

“Takes on a cruel, absurdly structured medical system with a light touch…capturing how people survive in this modern world.” – Vikram Murthi, Indiewire.
