In a new restoration with, Scorsese’s pioneering use of choreographed, multiple cameras captures the up-close intimacy and excitement as Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel and Robbie Robertson perform their hits, including The Weight, Stage Fright, and I Shall Be Released. The guest artists represent the many genres that influenced The Band’s music: country (Emmy Lou Harris); gospel (The Staples); folk (Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young); and the blues (Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton). 117 min.
